Internships and co-ops are one of the three pillars of KSU's It's About Engagement initiative. They are a high-impact educational practice that leads to deep，meaningful learning for students (Kuh，2008). This workshop will highlight the expectations for creating or re-designing an online internship or co-op course into one that is a high-impact practice，how to work with internship or co-op supervisors regarding academic requirements，and how to embed a meaningful reflection component into these courses. CETL Scholarly Teaching is partnering with Career Planning and Development to provide a complete set of resources to help ensure your online internship and co-op course can contribute towards KSU's It's About Engagement initiative. – December 01, 2021

Since the publication of her book，Mindset: The New Psychology of Success in 2006，Carol Dweck’s theory of growth mindset has encouraged a generation of students to see failures as opportunities to learn and challenges as opportunities to develop new skills. But how do our mindsets as educators influence how we approach teaching our students? How do our attitudes about student learning impact our own students’ learning? In this interactive session，participants will review some of the research on mindsets，consider some new perspectives on these theories，and reflect on how our own mindsets about student learning may be helping or hindering student learning in our classes. – November 19, 2021

Since the inception of the It's About Engagement (IAE) Initiative faculty across campus have been working hard at embedding a critical reflection assignment into their high-impact practice (HIP) courses. This Scholarly Conversation will highlight exemplary ways in which faculty have worked to achieve this. The session will begin with a brief discussion of the goals of the IAE Initiative and continue as 3-4 faculty share ways that they have effectively engaged their students in reflection that is aligned to the goals of IAE. Faculty will specifically discuss ways in which they have provide learning experiences throughout the course to build the skill of reflexivity and methods that they have employed to allow students to see value in the reflection exercises. – November 17, 2021

Once we are clear on our desires，a vigorous will helps us plan a course and stay on track. The third chakra is the chakra of power and transformation. A healthy third chakra stokes the fire in the gut that drives our performance and allows us to act in the world by staying focused on our goals. The work of the third chakra is in building our agency from within，especially when it is not supported by external structures such as tenure，and especially for those who feel like impostors (Young 2011). In this workshop we will unpack the mechanics of the power chakra and generate strategies to build power and agency in our professional life. – November 12, 2021

Have you ever wondered what you should or should not put in the Annual Review Document (ARD) and Faculty Performance Agreement (FPA) for your faculty? Setting expectations is necessary to ensuring a clear pathway for success. It is the responsibility of department and school leaders and supervisors to deliver clear feedback for positive performance as well as areas of opportunities for achieving results. In this workshop，we will discuss ways to tactfully communicate well-defined performance measures through the annual review process as well as the technical aspects in Watermark Faculty Success (formerly Digital Measures Faculty Insight).
In addition to chairs/directors，this workshop is open to those in your department who also oversee the annual review process for faculty. – November 10, 2021
