SoTL Manuscript Completion Program
Have you gathered and analyzed data for an empirical SoTL study but are struggling to finish preparing it for publication? The hybrid Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Manuscript Completion Program provides funding for up to eight (8) KSU faculty members to spend time in person and online focusing on completing writing goals, supported by a structured consultation and peer review process.
For the purposes of this program, CETL defines SoTL as:
systematic inquiry into student learning and/or one’s own teaching practices in higher education which involves methodologically sound application of appropriate research methods, peer review, and distribution as scholarly work.
2025 Program Schedule
All meetings will be held 9:00am - 12:00pm.
- Monday, May 12: in-person at the CETL Research Lab
- Tuesday, May 13: online
- Thursday, May 15: in-person at the CETL Research Lab
- Friday, May 16: online
- Monday, May 19: online
- Tuesday, May 20: in-person at the CETL Research Lab
Funding Amount
$1250* in summer salary (paid in June, subject to KSU fiscal policies).
*Summer compensation counts towards the 33.33% maximum per faculty member. Overages may not be shifted to development funds in the future. All participants must provide the expected deliverables to receive the compensation
Criteria
To be considered, applicants must have a completed SoTL project ready to be written for publication by the time of the program (May 2025).
Applicants must first complete the SoTL Research Design Micro-Credential, which requires using the Hopscotch 4-SoTL research planning tool to outline the elements of a well-informed empirical design. Note that the process for earning the micro-credential is iterative and often involves feedback and revision of your work; therefore we recommend completing the micro-credential as early as possible to allow time for revision prior to the application deadline.
Applicants must commit to the entire timeline noted above. Collaborative projects are welcomed; however, only the lead author will participate in the program and receive funding. Funding is subject to receipt of the deliverable: a completed draft of a manuscript for submission to a SoTL journal or book editor.
Deadline for Application
February 7, 2025, 11:59pm
Selection and Notification Process
In the case that more than eight eligible applications are received, the applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received. Applicants will be notified of a decision within two weeks after the application deadline.
Eligibility
All KSU full-time, contracted faculty members are eligible for this program.
Application Process
After you are awarded the SoTL Research Design Micro-Credential, applicants will submit through the InfoReady platform. Applicants will need to log in with their KSU credentials to apply. As part of the routing process of the application, application will route to the applicant’s chair or director for approval. We encourage applicants to let their chair/director know this will be coming their way. The deadline is for the applicant to complete their portion of the application (not for the approval from the chair/director and dean to be completed). Please use the link below to apply for this program.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation upon receipt. If you do not receive the confirmation e-mail, please contact CETL at cetl@kennesaw.edu. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the proposal was received by the deadline.
