Scholarly Teaching Conversation: Embedding the It's About Engagement Critical Reflection Assignment in Your Course

Since the inception of the It's About Engagement (IAE) Initiative faculty across campus have been working hard at embedding a critical reflection assignment into their high-impact practice (HIP) courses. This Scholarly Conversation will highlight exemplary ways in which faculty have worked to achieve this. The session will begin with a brief discussion of the goals of the IAE Initiative and continue as 3-4 faculty share ways that they have effectively engaged their students in reflection that is aligned to the goals of IAE. Faculty will specifically discuss ways in which they have provide learning experiences throughout the course to build the skill of reflexivity and methods that they have employed to allow students to see value in the reflection exercises.
