Since the publication of her book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success in 2006, Carol Dweck’s theory of growth mindset has encouraged a generation of students to see failures as opportunities to learn and challenges as opportunities to develop new skills. But how do our mindsets as educators influence how we approach teaching our students? How do our attitudes about student learning impact our own students’ learning? In this interactive session, participants will review some of the research on mindsets, consider some new perspectives on these theories, and reflect on how our own mindsets about student learning may be helping or hindering student learning in our classes.
