Research supports the argument that students who feel acknowledged and respected in their learning environment are better able to focus their attention on the course content and perform on assessments. Creating an explicitly centralizing climate in our classes requires the intentional and deliberate application of inclusive strategies and practices designed specifically for this purpose. In this session, we will review the research on inclusive pedagogies, introduce a variety of activities and strategies designed to promote inclusion of all students, and share our experiences in building our own inclusive classroom communities.
