Whether you are interested in becoming a change agent for your department or finding ways to better respond to your colleagues in contentious contexts, this webinar is for you. It will draw upon the conflict management and behavioral psychology literature to identify best practices for navigating departmental politics through constructive conflict engagement. – April 06, 2020

The Teaching Academy for Part-time Faculty is a two-day learning event facilitated online and offered during spring break each year. The academy is designed to introduce faculty members who teach part-time to research on how people learn and to teaching strategies found to foster deep learning in our students. This virtual experience includes both synchronous meetings (everyone logged in at the same time) and asynchronous sessions (time to work on your own off-line). The academy requires attendees to participate in group discussion board conversations and personal reflection exercises. There will also be activities to help you apply the theories and research to your own courses. – March 30, 2020

As part of KSU’s It's About Engagement! initiative, this webinar introduces and underscores the value of backward design. Many teachers plan their courses grounded in these design principles, but they uniquely apply to engaged activities within and beyond the classroom. What does backward design look like in your contexts? How might it help you envision your project, activity, or semester? Join this informational webinar to discover how backward design applies to an engaged curriculum. – March 11, 2020

Introverts are everywhere. You surely know some, you likely teach a few, or maybe you are one. Being an introvert might influence your behavior in the classroom, in meetings, or with colleagues. You might be seen as a quiet person, but there is power in introversion that overflows into your work and relationships. This workshop will explore the research about, and strategies of, successful introverts from Susan Cain's 2012 book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. – March 10, 2020

Internships and co-ops are one of the three pillars of KSU's It's About Engagement initiative. They are a high-impact educational practice that leads to deep, meaningful learning for students (Kuh, 2008). This workshop will highlight the expectations for creating or re-designing an internship or co-op course into one that is a high-impact practice, how to work with internship or co-op supervisors regarding academic requirements, and how to embed a meaningful reflection component into these courses. CETL Scholarly Teaching is partnering with Career Planning and Development to provide a complete set of resources to help ensure your internship and co-op course can contribute towards KSU's It's About Engagement initiative. – February 24, 2020
