Teaching Students How to Create Accessible Documents

Thursday, February 24th, 2022 | 1:25 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Event Type: Webinar
Location: Virtual
Facilitators: Linda Stewart and Erin Bahl

This workshop will help graduate student teachers and KSU instructors design classes in which all participants (students and instructors alike) contribute to accessible course environments. Writing and designing for accessibility (such as alt text for images, captions for video, transcripts for audio, and structured headings for documents) is an important part of developing an inclusive course community. Furthermore, it helps students prepare to write accessibly in their future careers and professional lives. Participants will explore resources for teaching academic web accessibility, then consider how to adapt these materials for their own disciplines, course content, and teaching styles.
