Taking a developmental approach to support your faculty needs: Early, mid, and late career faculty

We all know intuitively that people have different needs and predictable anxieties at different points in their careers. Incorporating this intuition into our leadership style can pay off in increased satisfaction and productivity.

This session will review basic adult lifespan developmental theory, introduce the research on faculty career stages (with some surprising results), and discuss strategies to weave both bodies of knowledge into our practice as chairs and directors.
