In the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, students are our “human subjects”; thus, SoTL studies, while often classified as Exempt from Continuing Review, require oversight of the Institutional Review Board. However, the close relationship of researcher and participants in SoTL studies necessitates special consideration.
