Improve online classroom communication using solution-seeking strategies of Appreciative Inquiry

Tuesday, September 29, 2020 | 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Event Type: Interactive Webinar
Facilitators: Cody Wehlan & Linda Stewart

In this interactive webinar, participants will learn how to integrate effective communication and solution-seeking strategies of Appreciative Inquiry (AI) in both face-to-face and online class environments. AI processes emphasize mindfulness of rhetoric and question-framing to promote positive, constructive dialogues that de-emphasize ‘problems’ in favor of seeking ‘solutions.’ Participants learn to integrate AI principles in their classrooms by practicing and developing their own AI approaches for the context of their classrooms. Also known as Appreciative Circles, group discussions framed by AI principles are suitable for discussing classroom content as well as addressing classroom expectations and behavior. Through the inclusion of AI principles, participants can both role-model and engage students in how to establish and maintain constructive dialogues and collaborative online classrooms.
