Motivating Students in an Online Course

Thursday, August 27, 2020 | 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Event Type: Webinar
Facilitator: Mandy McGrew

The scholarship on motivation tells us that value, self-efficacy, and a supportive environment all contribute to a student’s motivation. These “three pillars of motivation” are further supported and enhanced when students have trust in their professor and develop a rapport with them. But how do these motivation theories transfer to the online course modality? In this webinar, we will briefly examine these motivation theories and discuss ways to motivate your online students to achieve success in your course. Attendees will receive information and resources on motivation theory as well as some practical tools to use in remote and online instruction to boost your presence in the class and engage your students virtually.
