Composing a Teaching Philosophy and DEI statement

This webinar focuses on developing a teaching philosophy and DEI statement or revising current ones. Using several writing prompts, we will generate ideas about the broad principles currently guiding our beliefs about teaching and learning. We will identify critical incidents in our teaching and learning and share those stories to get feedback from our colleagues. We will also identify theorists that align with our views and articulate concrete ways our philosophy is enacted in our current or future classrooms. A memorable teaching philosophy statement is crucial for job searches, annual reviews, award applications, and more (Lang, J. M. 2010). Graduate student or faculty participants will be asked to complete a brief teaching inventory prior to the workshop.
