Playing Hopscotch to Generate Well-Informed SoTL Research Designs

Plenary Workshop: Thursday, October 7, 2021, 3:15 - 4:30 pm EST

Hopscotch, a theoretical model and webtool, will be presented in this workshop as a resource to generate well-informed SoTL research designs. In addition to becoming acquainted with the nine steps proposed by Hopscotch’s framework in the development of thorough qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods designs, participants will use the webtool to generate a visual representation of the key elements of a SoTL study they are interested in.

Dr. Jorrín-Abellán obtained his Ph.D. in Educational Technology within the Intelligent & Cooperative Systems Research Group at the University of Valladolid (Spain). His research was devoted to the study of Computer-supported Collaborative Learning environments. In 2009, after a Fulbright fellowship at the University of Illinois, he founded the Transdisciplinary Research Center in Education (CETIE) also at the University of Valladolid. In 2014 he begun working for Kennesaw State University where he has developed the Hopscotch Model, a theoretical model and a webtool to support the generation of research designs, and more recently the Interactive Research Methods Lab.
